Course Title: Advanced Automotive Technology Recommended

This course is designed to reinforce the skills and knowledge acquired in Automotive Technology and to assist the student in acquiring the higher level, more technical, skills required today. This course covers all areas with emphasis upon individual student ability, skill development, and employability. Skill competency training will be performed on modern automobiles found in our lab as well as live projects from outside the classroom. This double-period course may be taken as a one period course (See Advanced Automotive Technology – Independent), but the extra period makes it easier to complete the required lab projects. This course is approximately 20% class work and 80% lab.

This course is intended for the student who would like to take Advanced Auto Technology, but cannot work the double period into his/her schedule. The course description is the same as above, and instructor permission is required. This course is offered ONLY during the first period of Advanced Automotive Technology.

This course provides the student with skills and knowledge to be a better-informed consumer and to more efficiently utilize and maintain their home and auto. The course covers general knowledge and basic service and repair procedures. One quarter will be spent on the home and the other quarter spent on the automobile.

This course is designed to assist the student in acquiring the knowledge and skills to understand and service most components found on today’s automobiles. This will require both classroom and lab experiences utilizing vehicles found in our lab as well as live vehicles from outside the school. This course is approximately 50% class work and 50% lab.

This course is designed to give the student a well-rounded background in auto mechanics. Classroom and lab experiences will cover areas such as: general mechanics, small engines, specialized small engines, auto/body basics, and consumer car care. Lab work is individualized. The course is approximately 30% class time and 70% lab time.
