Mr.Schaeffer

I have been in education for 24 years. All 24 have been teaching in Southwest Nebraska. For the first 16 years I taught at Culbertson High School, where I taught grades 7-12. This is my eighth year at McCook Senior High School; my focus has been on grades 9-12. TI am responsible for teaching Accounting I and II, Business Law, Economics, and Marketing, Business Computer Applications I, and Business Computer Applications II – Desktop Publishing, Entrepreneurship and Personal Finance. I am also the head coach of the 7th grade football team. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in education from CSC in 1987; I completed my Master of Science in education Degree in 1993. In the spring of 2010 I decided to work towards my endorsement in secondary administration and begin looking at the next phase of my career. Last spring I completed the needed coursework for a 7-12 endorsement. Then I investigated and found that with a few additional hours I could add an endorsement that would allow me to be K-12 endorsed; so I decided to take the classes and earn the endorsement. I am completing six hours this fall and three more next spring. My wife and I celebrated our 22nd anniversary this past June. Our daughter graduated from McCook High School in May. Our son graduated in 2009. Our daughter decided to attend CSC and is majoring in elementary education. Our son attends UNK and is majoring in K-12 physical education and coaching. So we have in our house two small dogs; a boy (Jack) and a girl (Maya) and they act like the kids sometimes. I enjoy college football and basketball and I am a big fan of the Huskers and UNC Tarheels. My kids are both Duke fans so you can imagine the atmosphere at our house when UNC and Duke play.
